And what is left behind, mountains of oyster shells piled up with unbearable smells. Using local natural resources to make neoprene sheets can not only reduce transportation carbon footprint, but the waste issue is also resolved, therefore, the wetsuit is sustainable. In response to brands and their customers' desires for rubber sponge with sustainable attributes, seashell powder made bio-based rubber sponge was delivered five years later, namely BIO II™

USDA Certified Bio-Based Sponge BIO II™ - 52% Carbon Footprint Reduction, 79% Of Carbon From Renewable Sources

BIO-II is a series of selective rubber sponges that are labelled based on the variation of their hardness, density, tensile and tear properties, content of rubber and ASTM tests. The polymeric sponge, BIO-II, is made from green and natural resources using renewable rubber, sugar cane and plant oil, as well as recycled oyster shells. From raw material preparation, manufacturing, to final delivery, carbon footprint is reduced by 52%. Also, 79% of the carbon from renewable sources according to ASTM-D6866. To prove its high quality, Nam Liong took things a step further to become the first USDA certified supplier, which has allowed them to be participants in the BioPreferred Program that is managed by USDA.

USDA, FSC™(License Code : FSC™ C181797) certified Bio-based BIO II™ rubber sponge is categorized based on the percentage of bio-rubber - 90%, 75%, 65% and 30%. Customers can select suitable rubber sponges to go with recycled nylon or polyester fabric for their products. The fossil resources reduced rubber sponge can be fabricated into different products such as wetsuits for surfing, swimming, diving, and sport braces to prevent injury or waterproof and flexible neoprene shoes for kayaking and padding. BIO II™ rubber sponge wetsuit remains soft, lightweight, stretchy and durable. It also meets ASTM standards.
