Nam Liong's client is an up-and-coming athletic shoemaker from the Swiss Alps. Running shoes that highlight on making soft landings, just like running on clouds. It was awarded ISPO Gold Award for the Best Performance Shoe, and celebrities are often spotted wearing them. Nam Liong has been supplying technical Kevlar®-filled fabrics to the client for years. At the beginning it was fabric purchase orders for the tongue, and then the upper part of the shoe.
Anti-abrasion fabric KN-2073 for running shoes
The client was looking for a fabric that can be used under the laces for female athletic shoes. The tongue part of the shoe needs to be soft and stylish. Kevlar® was their first choice because of para-aramid synthetic fiber's strong characteristics. Knowing Nam Liong is an eminent manufacturer of functional fabric, the client reached out to them. A custom-made fabric sample was delivered within a few days after a complete understanding of their needs. Fabric dyeing is all about experimenting, a variation of dying techniques were implemented to select the best outcome. Nam Liong used Kevlar®'s yellow and combined it with a silver/greyish color to create a galaxy sky looking fabric. The soft and elegant color carries out the spirit of brand; the client was thrilled. As a result, the shoes were well loved and sold millions.

More functional fabrics were requested for the upper part of the shoe. Lightweight, abrasion resistant and anti-splashing functionalities were essential. Net zero emission fabric production has become a social responsibility for today's brands, thus, the client required a non-toxic production process. That includes the usage of eco-friendly additives and solutions, recycled and biodegradable materials, mild chemicals when making anti-splashing fabrics, and so on. Unlike most fabric colors in the market, Nam Liong incorporated Kevlar® fiber with white, green and black to create three unique samples. To develop a fabric that is functional and eco-friendly, eight sets of components were repeatedly tested over and over in order to reach high standards before mass production. All fabulous colored fabrics were chosen by the client and a series of shoes with distinctive colors has helped the client to thrive on the market.

Nam Liong's client is from Italy and has outfitted countless world champions and produces the highest level of performance and protective apparel for motorcycle and cross mountain bike riders. Motorcycle pants and jackets need to be extremely stretchy and firm to protect bikers when falling, particularly in the elbow, thigh, and shoulder areas. Thus, the fabric requires mixing fibers (i.e., stretch and strong) bonded together, and the treatment of fabric needs to be adjusted. The characteristic of the fabric remains elastic and solid with a great level of protection, which is something other functional manufacturers cannot achieve.
